(04-2019 Review) Great Food Options for Camping

June 4, 2016

So I went on my first bike camping trip this past weekend with my son. Having never done this before I was a little unsure what we would do for our meals. Wanting to keep weight down and with limited space I went searching for a good solution.

We came across some great sources, BackPacker’s Pantry and Mountain House. Both of these options offer lots of variety from Chicken and Dumplings to Beef Stroganoff and Mushrooms. We found these to be hearty meals with lots of calories and protein which is exactly what we were looking for after a long bike ride. Having a tasty meal that is nutritious, lightweight, easy to prepare, and dispose of  eat all of our requirements.

To prepare these meals all you need is boiling water (I will add a review in a separate post explaining how we did this). Once the water comes to a boil you add it to the pouch, stir, seal and wait 8-9 minutes. After that you eat right from the pouch. When your done dispose of the pouch responsibly and that’s it.

We will definitely use these products again on any bike packing trip and since they are so delicious we may even bring them along when we go camping in the travel trailer.

We purchased our packs from Pedal Driven in Sanford, FL and at Academy Sports in Lake Mary, FL. Both places have a great selection to choose from.
