DIY Reflectix Project

January 29, 2016

This was our second DIY project for the camper. We spent a night in Ocala and the site had little to no shade. In the dead of summer (July in Florida) it gets hot fast. I was really surprised to feel how hot the bed ends got as well as the pull-out kitchen. Even with the A.C. on high in the middle of the day we found that it was warmer than we would have liked.

Knowing that we may face a lot of this since we do indeed live in Florida I went looking for a solution. Enter Reflectix, I found the cheapest price at our local Lowes store. I bought the 24″ roll by 25′ for $23.65.

I’ve included a few photos in this post to show how I went about making these to fit inside the zippered windows for the bed ends and pull-out kitchen. Two tips that may be helpful 1. I suggest buying the larger size Reflectix 48′ by 25′ (the smaller size leaves about a 4 inch gap at the top) 2. A great way to store these is to lay them flat underneath the mattress’s. I hope you find this helpful. If you’ve done this or have other suggestions please leave a comment below.
